I chose to cut my raster engraved design of my cat with bite written under it. I split it into layers in Inkscape and then moved them to RetinaEngrave. Each of the layers is colored a different color on my drawing and was engraved using a different power on the laser cutter. For the darkest area (the lines) I used 40% power. For each lighter shade I halved the power. I had to go over the two lightest areas twice because the power settings were too low. I moved the lightest layer from 10% power to 15% power on the second pass, and for the second lightest layer, which was originally engraved with 20% power, I changed the power to 12% for the second pass to help separate the tones from the other layers without making it too dark. I also accidently cut the boarder out before I did the engraving so the image is not exactly perfectly centered in the wood. I also cut too far from the edge of my wood and now I have a very chunky thick wood boarder around where I cut my piece. The overall time for the first pass of the cut was around 24 minutes and each time I had to go over the light spots It added another 10 minutes making the entire time to cut the piece roughly 50 minutes. It also took me a good deal of time to reassemble the layers of my drawing as well so I did not have enough time to make another cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
