Hi. My name is Samy Rosenberg, and I am a Mechanical Engineering major in the class of 2024. I have always been interested in all things design whether that was looking at my art through a design focused lens or inventing my own mechanisms to bring my ideas to life. Currently and in the future art is and will be what I use as a form of self expression and as a way to improve my designs function and aesthetics. I tend to draw my design inspiration from nature and animals, and I am absolutely obsessed with cats.
I have both a cat and a dog. My cat’s name is Sassy and she is a small and feisty gray tabby cat with a bad temper. Sassy also likes to sit on my shoulder when I am working and she takes pride in how fast she can bat my hands as they pass through the sewing machine. My dog is named Jasmine and she is a large red/yellow Border Collie and Australian Shepard mix. Jasmine is my hiking buddy and is a big sweetheart who can not say no to a good petting session or a cookie. Jasmine also sometimes participates in doggie modeling photoshoots and she loves to be dressed in bandanas. Both my pets often inspire my art and provide some much needed companionship when I work on projects.
My favorite medium to work with is fabric. I love deconstructing clothing patterns and inventing my own. I hope to be able to bring my expertise in this area to the work I create in this class. I’m starting to explore more nature inspired works now as I have found that being outside and connecting with nature to be important in grounding myself and clearing my head. As far as digital art goes I don’t have much experience with it, but I’m hoping to learn more about it. I have taken a graphic design class here at WPI and learned to use Photoshop, and I have also taken essentials of art here as well. When working with more traditional mediums I prefer to use charcoal and colored pencils.

Detailed – your work is extremely detailed and it shows how much work you put into your pieces.
Detailed – I have seen many doodles of eyes over the years, but I do not think I have seen one as good as this one. The hairs of the eyebrows were a fantastic touch.
Detailed – Your sketches have great detail. It’s hard to include that much in just black and white but you did amazing!
Gorgeous — that dress is sooo pretty!!
thought-provoking – I find the piece with the skill and the piece with the ballerina marionette really captured my attention. I think the main subjects are really what have me thinking.
Detailed – your artwork looks very cared for and I like the effort you put into it, they all turned out good
thought-provoking – something about the cat kind of “dissolving” into the background makes me ponder (ponder what? I’m not exactly sure)
detailed – amazing shading and detail on those images!
Detailed – I find it so easy to get lost in all of your art, there is just so much in each piece!
Detailed – Your charcoal work is very well shaded
Colorful – you have a great eye!
Striking – The versatility in you work from the use of color and gray scale to the vastly different types of media to the variety of concepts behind your pieces is really cool
