Introduction and Portfolio – Sebastian (Alex) Lanz

Introduction

Hello! I am Sebastia Lanz, but I go by middle name, Alex. I am a Sophmore, double majoring in Computer Science and Interactive Media and Game Design. I am from Houston, Texas. I would describe art as fitting into my goals a signficant amount as I aspire to work in the game development industry. As a current indie devloper, I am working to imporve my art and try new things, so I can do more and more with my games. I may be a programmer first and foremoest, but I value art a lot and would like to be as well rounded as possible.

Most of my art experience comes from making games, comics, and just doodling in my spare time. I also know how to play the drums, and have played in band before. As for classwork, I have worked on projects in Digital Imaging, 3D Modeling, and the Game Development Process classes. I am interested in learning more about audio production and creative coding. I have tried these lightly, but would like to really dive in at some point.

I do not have much direct experience in the innovation makerspace. I have borrowed some tools, and helped others with some small projects, but have yet to really use the space to its fullest for my projects. I am looking forward to going in a new direction with my digital art, and to hopefully improve my vector art and 3d modeling skills as well!

Portfolio

Here are some logo variations I worked on in Adobe Illustrator:

This is the final version of the logo

This work led to me creating this final animated logo

Next I wanted to Showcase some spritework and scenes that I worked on in a game called Project Spookems, a sort of spooky puzzle game. I served as a lead programmer, artist, and lead UI Designer

Next is some more examples from this game, but specifically UI menus I designed

The following are some photoshop projects I worked on for a class

Lastly, I just wanted to show off some random pixel art I enjoyed making, including a fan art piece, a sprite for a game I am developing called Thyme Time, and a random little gif made for fun.

Familiar – I have always been a huge fan of pixel art and pixel art style games so seeing your art brings back some true nostalgia from playing some older games with this sort of pixelated style
