For drawing #2 I wanted to incorporate some text with a fun font and I have always loved art from past decades took inspiration from the 70s. I found a cool font with some interesting detail and designed a little lava lamp graphic in the middle which would all be raster engraved. The base and…
First Cut
I chose to laser cut my first drawing of flowers. Some of the lines came out darker than others, and some of the lines are visible on the back of the piece so I will have to play around with the power and number of passes for future pieces. Overall I’m happy with the result.
Drawings #2 & #3
For Drawing #2 I made a mountain landscape. I used the shape builder tool to cut out portions of the mountain to show the silhouette of a deer. For Drawing #3 I experimented with adding another shape and I played around with the rotation and spacing of the shapes.
Drawing 2&3
Drawing 2: I used inspo from a sticker I made a few years ago to raster engrave the red areas and cut the green. Drawing 3: This is supposed to be a cat 🙂 Here is my code
Cullen Jacene: First Cuts
I started to do my second drawing of a Rubik Cube but was unable to finish it. I tried to be a little ambitious and use different powers for different colors. I think I finally have the procedure down for how to do this properly, but there was a learning curve that took me longer…
First Cuts – Lauren Waddick
For my first cuts, I tried cutting out drawings #1 and #2. I had trouble getting the power settings right on the first drawing so ended up having to cut it out again after the test print. My second cut was more tricker with the raster engrave since it was a drawing on paper traced…
Drawing #1 – Abbie Wang
For drawing #1 I chose to draw my film camera, Canon A1. I started shooting film a year ago and I often like to take it during traveling. Shooting and developing the film feels like opening up a surprise box, you will never know how it will actually look like before its in your hands,…
Kerri Thornton: Drawings #2 and #3
Drawing #2: A photo I really like 🙂 I still have to figure out how long it will take to engrave and adjust accordingly… I really like how it becomes *more* clear when I take off my glasses — it’s an interesting turn of events for someone who can’t see a foot past her face…
Kerri Thornton: Drawing #1
I decided to make a simple doodle of a rat, with a little heart in the end of the tail. This is after my late girl, Petunia, who passed this summer. She was the sweetest little thing <3 I’m not quite sure if this is going to come out the way I want it to,…
