Madison Little: Introduction and Portfolio

Hello, my name is Madison and I’m from Westfield, New Jersey. I’m a sophomore at WPI and I’m studying mechanical engineering. I enjoy reading and watching movies in my free time.

Growing up I have always been interested in art and I loved taking art classes in and out of school. When I was younger I went through many different art-related hobbies including photography, jewelry making, and knitting. I took a couple of knitting classes in middle school, however, I didn’t like how long it took me to complete knitting projects and later found that I enjoyed crocheting a lot more since it was more suited to smaller and quicker projects.

In high school, I did graphic design for the theater club so I designed the posters for the plays and musicals. I learned how to use Photoshop and other Adobe programs through that along with a graphic design class I took. It was a great experience for me because it forced me to work with stricter deadlines and design something based on someone else’s vision.

At WPI I have taken Essentials of Art, Digital Imaging, and Computer Art and I also took Intro to CAD earlier this year. Outside of classes I have been crocheting a lot but I haven’t had as much time to focus on some of my other hobbies. I have enjoyed doing art for my humanities requirement because it has allowed me to have a creative outlet in between all of the STEM classes I have been taking.
