The first image is what I cut on the laser printer, each item being its own layer. Here i had them all visible but they are on separate layers. The power I used did not end up cutting all the way so the edges are a bit sharp. I miscalculated the hole sized with the bars so nothing actually fit. I have so far redrawn things and plan on more test cuts. So far I really like the concept.
I appreciate how you are using layers to build terrain as well as create places for the pieces to stand. I am wondering if you are going to add color/stain or leave the wood with its natural color and texture.
I love the use of the topographical map and adding some figures to the scene! How do you plan to make the figures stand out? In my opinion you could use the bases to glue them to and make them stand up if this is what you are going for.
I’m struck by your use of real world components like the topographic map and fictional ones like the dragon. This piece reminds me of a movie I watched as a kid, I think it was called Journey 2: the Mysterious Island.
What is your plan for color and adding contrast to the figures?
I am struck by your use of multiple orientations for your pieces.
How do you plan on finishing your project? (i.e. stain, paint, etc.)
I have an opinion about the characters. I think that they are all really cute and I’m excited to see your vision come to life.
I’m impressed by the combination of layers and the engraving – looks great! What colors do you plan on using?
I am struck by the concept of your design. I really like idea of the standing up pieces fitting into the piece. I hope on your next iteration that you are successful with the size of the holes!
I am struck by the scenery used in the topographical map. I think having it stand up allows for an even more in depth experience with the piece. I am excited to see how you finish this!
