Lantern Design – Deidra Anderson

My design will be similar to the inspiration image pasted below with a design on 5 sides – I think the pentagon looks cool. The tree image could be a good idea for the space, so I think I’ll design the faces with a similar shape.

What is you plan for the material of the sides? How much light do you want or not want to go through each section.

    1. Deidra says:

Plywood for the sides. I want the lights coming thru all the white space in the drawings.

Do you plan on adding something to defuse the light? What light source do you think you’ll use?

    1. Deidra says:

I think I might just get one of those small battery lights that you see you fake candles. I don’t want to deal with a long chord / outlet. I don’t plan to use anything to diffuse the light, but rather, get a dim light source.

Are you planning on having multiple layers of different thicknesses in order to achieve the shades for the different rows of trees?

    1. Deidra says:

Nope, just one layer for each panel.

Are the trees going to be cut out or the white space? If you’re cutting out the trees what are you thinking of using to get the coloring of the trees? If you are not cutting out the trees do you think you will paint the wood?

    1. Deidra says:

The white space is going to be cut out. I might paint each panel a different color. I think I’ll decide the look I want once they’re cut out and I can see it.
