Here it is! The concept of this piece was to create identical layers and utilize transparency and lighting to create a sense of motion and depth. This was my first time working with edge lit acrylic so it was a great opportunity to experiment. The soldering on the bottom of this piece ended up being the most difficult part of assembly, 6 sticks * 3 wires per stick = 18 solder joints plus the microcontroller. The transparent the acrylic mixed with frosting the middle via raster engraving ended up working out far better than I imagined it would. I’ll title this piece “Galaxy Donuts.”
