First Piece: Galaxy Donuts The concept of this piece was to create similar or identical layers and utilize transparency and lighting to create a sense of motion and depth. This was my first time working with edge lit acrylic so it was a great opportunity to experiment. The soldering on the bottom of this piece…

Altered Toy Final Calvin
Here’s my finished toy! I created Jangle, a gravity-defining take on Jenga. I achieved this effect by manipulating the infill of one side of each block to make the blocks unbalanced. Unfortunately, the surface finish of these pieces were not as smooth as I would have liked them to be due to over extrusion, especially…
Altered Toy WIP
Here’s my sliced part! I am making Jangle, a variation of Jenga that is unbalanced. I have a section cut out of the slice to show how the infill will make the pieces unbalanced. Next up is getting everything printed.
Altered Toy Design
I am going to make Jangle, a twist on Jenga. My Jangle blocks will be 3D printed. I will manipulate slicing settings so the blocks are unbalanced due to infill settings, which will make the game less predictable and slightly unsettling.

Lantern Project Final Calvin
Here’s my finished lantern! The original concept was to add an element of Tiki vibes to my apartment’s home bar. The lantern flickers like a candle, but uses LEDs and a microcontroller. I think I’ve done a pretty decent job of adding some warm, subtle lighting to the shelf. I designed the baseplate such that…

Here it is! The concept of this piece was to create identical layers and utilize transparency and lighting to create a sense of motion and depth. Lantern WIP Calvin
Here’s the working design for my lantern. I have a 3D printed base and pillars holding in wood on four sides and a top plate to keep the pillars at the right distance. The 3D printed part is structurally a pretty awful design to be honest and it will make most 3D printers cry but…
Lantern Design Calvin
It’s time to get our Tiki on! I plan on making a rectangular lantern that resembles a Tiki head. I’ll illuminate the inside with some LEDs so I can get a fire look without lighting my apartment on fire. The base and sides will be a 3D printed part and I’ll use glue or something…
Layers WIP Calvin
I’ve finalized how I am going to put together my design by sourcing parts, creating a CAD model, and sending parts off to the print queue. I plan on using six Neopixel sticks with 8 LEDs each and an Arduino Nano to light up my piece. There will be 6x 0.25″ acrylic panels that are…
