Abbie Wang: Introduction & Portfolio

on

Hi, my name is Abbie Wang and I’m a junior majoring ECE and ME. I’m an international student from Taiwan. Art for me is a simple thing that can very easily be combined in daily life, it doesn’t always need to be created with purpose, it can be found and met naturally. My future goal is to combine art in my daily life in the way I like and find its meaning for me.

I don’t have a lot of traditional art experience, I have learned and practiced some basic sketch skills in mid school and in AR 1100. Comparing to traditional art, I have a lot more experience in digital art including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects in AR 1101; some basic sculpting skills in Zbrush and Maya. I also have advanced experience in CAD such as Solidworks and Creo.

I have a lot of interests and I’m always curious about a lot of things. In my free time I like to read novels and literature, watch movies, travel, and explore new stuff. I’m always practicing my literature and writing skills and my goal is to draft a story or a book. I also learn leather crafting starting a couple of months ago, which I’d like to explore using laser cutter combining with leather material. I also know how to play some piano and electric guitar.

I don’t have experience to actually work in WPI’s makerspace cause somehow every time I need to print out project pieces friends or group member around aways have it covered (which is very lucky). I have used 3D printer at grade 8 and 9, but since then I haven’t used 3D printer by myself.

Below are some CAD models I designed in the past, some digital art I made in other art classes, and some films I took during traveling and daily life.
