Introduction:

Hi! I’m Kerri, and I’m an IMGD BA senior with an unofficial concentration in visual art. I’m kind of “from” 3 different states — I was born in Boston, moved to Bloomington, Indiana at 2, and then moved to Norfolk, Virginia at 10, but most of my family still lives in Mass.

Someday, I’d like to make character art for games! I love all things miniature, animal-inspired, or otherwise able to be described as “a little guy.” (I have 2 pet rats, and they make an appearance in lots of my work!) I love both 2d and 3d art + animation, so it would be super cool to get to do either of those in the future. It’s definitely not what I would have said 5 years ago, though — I actually planned to be a MechE when I first came here, but life had other plans!

While I only started drawing at the beginning of 2020 (digital art was my “quarantine hobby” at the start of the pandemic lol), I’ve been creating in one way or another my whole life. As a kid, I really wanted to be an inventor and work for a company like Fred or Kikkerland — I kept an “inventions journal” of all the things I wanted to make one day but never did (I plan to use one of them for my final project… hoping to make 11 year old Kerri proud!).

I also used to make these mini dioramas called “Breakaway Boxes”; I’ve made about 10 or so in total. While I’m not into Harry Potter anymore (I’m not proud of my past obsessions okay lol), this is still one of my favorite ones:

I don’t have much experience in the Makerspace, but I have taken a few of their workshops before! I love when they have ones where we get to make something and bring it home… I’m a big fan of little trinkets.

Mini Portfolio:

I have a bunch of models of King from The Owl House, because I just really love this little guy. First I sculpted him in clay sophomore year:

Then I modeled him in ZBrush (+ textured in Substance Painter, + rigged in 3DS Max, + showcased in Unreal) in junior year:

And finally, I made a resin print of him this year! I still have some finishing touches and the clear topcoat to add, but here he is:

I also modeled this rat as part of my Artistic Game Development 1 project — his name is Bongo 🙂 He’s a little rat who works as a clown in the circus

I’m in the process of printing Bongo as well! He’s only gotten primer though, no paint. Eventually I’m going to turn him into earrings, like these.

The first animation was for an animated background for a friend of their original character last year, and the second animation is for a mobile game that I made over the summer on a team of 6 — it’s called Rodent Rampage and you can find it on the Apple App Store or on the Google Play Store! It’s an endless runner where you play as S.Q. Tailblazer, an inventive (if devious) squirrel on a mission to collect his acorns as efficiently as possible with the help of a modified, stolen leafblower jetpack.
