Final Projects – Griffin Bowers

on

Layers Project – I created an infinity symbol, hour glass shaped sculpture using baltic birch wood, sharpie, white paint, wood glue, illustrator for the design and the laser cutter. Every other layer is colored so there is a neat visual effect to give it more depth when you stare down at the sculpture.

Lantern Project – I created a sims diamond/crystal lantern. I 3D printed this piece using pla and used electronic candles I found at michaels. I modeled this in maya. I also 3D printed hexagon rings to keep the piece together. If I reprint in the future I plan to use organic filament so the light is more visible and so the piece will glow like a sims crystal. This was printed on the ultimaker.

Altered Toy Project – I altered a pokeball and made it into a cube. I modeled this in maya and printed it on the ultimaker. I made a few iterations to get the button looking the way I wanted it too. It was printed in white pla and painted with 3 coats of acrylic paint.

I think your turned out very well, I especially liked the idea of making the pokemon balls into the russian stacking dolls, I am not sure if that was possible, but I think it would be nice.

I really like your sims light. I think that is such a creative interpretation of the lantern project and I think it turned out really cool!
