Layers Work in Progress

on

I struggled a lot trying to find a design that I liked for this project. My initial design was much more intricate than my final product, but no matter now I tried, I could not organize the various leafs and flowers in a way that I liked. I thought it looked way too messy. This was the original goal of the project- to show the crazy unpredictability of nature, but I simply did not like the final design. I did everything from reorienting the layers, to adding layers and removing layers, but it either felt too sparse or too busy. When I printed my first draft it did not work out the way I wanted, so I switched to a much simpler design of a forest. I plan to draw and paint on the construction paper to add some more detail and variation of the design, but I like the way this looks much more than the busy leaves and flowers.

I really like your initial design idea but I can see where you’re coming from with finding the right orientation. I think any orientation would be cool to show that unpredictability but I think the design you went with in the end is still really cool and sometimes if you can’t figure out how to rearrange something to make it lay to your liking, switching it up can give you a new perspective on how to orient things so you are more satisfied. I think the final product turned out really well!
