Katherine Tse Lantern Design:

on

For my lantern project, I am hoping to do some type of shadow box design. I picked trees and a starry sky as my goal image for the lantern. I am hoping to have the trees be made out of wood so that the light will shine from behind them. I was thinking that I might use some type of paper or fabric to back everything and then have holes where the stars and moon will go, but I am not sure yet. If anyone has any suggestions on how I might be able to get the stars and moon to be brighter while also lighting the entire background that would be appreciated.

If you want your stars and moon to be bright, you could do the opposite with negative space and have the background be solid and then your trees and stars are cut out rather than the current solid shape.

Are you planning on using fabric or paper to create different levels of lighting?

I was planning on using some type of paper to diffuse the light.

If you are using fairy lights, you could poke each bulb through where the stars and the moon are if you go through with the fabric/paper idea.

Do you intended to use a light source that can be multiple colors or a standard one color light?

I plan on only using a light source with one color.
