Update: I was able to cut and assemble my lantern and love how it turned out.

I finished my design and added finger joints to my box. I did not have time to go in and use the laser, but will do so this weekend. I am wondering if I should put colored tissue paper (yellow most likely) behind the cuts or just use warm light? I am currently planning on using a tea light that I got that is warm.
I noticed how there is a design on the top of the lantern as well as on the sides. I was wondering how you made the picture/design so that it flowed nicely between each of the different panels. In my opinion, the tissue paper would look really cool especially since it would probably make the piece look more similar to the actual scene from the movie.
This design translated so well! I love the light you decided to use, it reminds me so much of the actual movie. I wonder how this piece would look if you tried painting some of the details?
I love how the light comes out in the little lantern areas on the sides and a lot on the sun at the top!
I love how detailed the design is and how it wraps around the corners! If you decide not to run a bottom plate you might remove the finger joints on the bottom, unless that’s what your using so the wires can be routed out of the lantern.
I love how this came out! It looks like the small lines came out pretty well, I know you were a bit worried about that. The picture flows incredibly well between each of the panels.
You did a really good job of making the design continuous across the panels. I really like the color of light you chose to use as well. In my opinion, it might be nice to make a base piece similar to the top, so that the lantern doesn’t stand on the finger joints at the bottom.
I noticed how you broke up the image across panels while keeping key features together. It definitely makes the project more polished.
I appreciate how intricate this piece is. I don’t think colored tissue paper is needed. I believe the light is already very evenly distributed and the color of the light works great with the star in the design.
