Layers Design + WIP

I decided to build this piece around the concept of trust being a gift. I cut out two of my three layers, but one of them refused to cut, so I’ll probably redraw the design and cut that out. I wanted to apply a layer of gold paint to the base layer, but I’m not sure if that would enhance the piece or detract from it. What do you guys think?

I enjoy the idea that trust is a gift that needs to be earned and I love how the stars and thin dainty hand writing play into the concept that this is a fragile gift and should you be luck to receive it you need to be careful with it.

I think with the gold as the entire base that the piece might be as strong as you are hoping for. Sometimes paint can flatten a piece and when it is applied as a coat to the whole it may make it harder to see the details you cut in the wood. I think if you want to do gold it might look good with just doing the stars or outlining the writing and giving it a darker stain or background to contrast with.

What were your thoughts on texture of the materials you are using and how to incorporate texture similar to the objects, like the bow, you are making?
