Lantern Design – Saranya Pujari

For my lantern, I decided to work on a small, simple box that defines what courage means to me. It has the words “courage” written along the sides of it in the three languages that have played a defining role in my heritage and identity. I designed images to go on the other two faces. The back face is still in progress, and will probably end up with a wholly different image. I plan to use 1/8″ plywood for this and stick fairy lights in the box. On the inside, I plan to line the box with thin sheets of colored paper and paint the box to add vibrancy and color to it. Hopefully, I can get this into Inkscape and cut by class on Monday!

how do you plan to assemble and secure the pieces to each other?

What is your plan for the colored paper, will the sheets also have cutouts in them?

I don’t plan to have cutouts in the paper, but rather to use the paper as a diffuser!

I used makercase to get parts that fit together! I have yet to transfer my design onto that, though.

What are Fairy lights and what effects do you intend to create with them?
