Layers

My layers project went through several iterations. I started with a 3-layer design, but I eventually settled on a 2-layer design that showed off the backdrop of my project more beautifully. I based this project on the idea that trust is an expensive gift.

Lantern

My lantern project worked out beautifully with my initial plans. The kerf was a little difficult to get right, but I was able to make it all work. This piece was based on the idea that courage can also mean being brave to yourself and that bravery comes from within.

Altered Toys

For this project, I attempted to create the fairy-dolls I used to covet as a kid, as their sparkly wings and glamorous designs attracted me. I stripped it of all of its glamour and individuality to make my altered toy – a barely-humanlike figure with wings. This project was a lot easier than the other two, as I was able to consult two of my friends, who are 3D printing fanatics who were able to give me plenty of pointers.
