For my altered toy, I decided to make a variation on one of my favorite childhood toys: the Hex Bug Nano. They are mostly no longer in production, so it is getting harder to find some of the classic color combos. To create my hex bug, I used Onshape for a general shape and used a variety of online models of the Hex Bug Nano as inspiration. I then sized-up the Hex Bug so that it was much larger than the original. I chose to make it larger because as a kid I always wanted to have a giant Hex Bug and now I get to make it myself. I chose the classic dark blue and clear color combination and I will be using PLA I the design.
One question that I had is should I use TPU for the legs? I only have black TPU so it would not be the traditional color scheme and it would look less polished because TPU supports don’t go away as cleanly, but it would make the legs flexible.

For my suggestion, it might look cool to put something in the cavity in the top/center of the hex bug, I’m not sure what but something could look cool there.
I agree with the comment above unless there is something that is supposed to go in there. Maybe something kinda iridescent like a beetle would be cool
im a big hexbug fan because my cats love them. i think a larger one is cool, but what about playing with the shape as well? you could string together multiple segments to make a centipede or something crazy. also, i think the tpu is a good idea if you can get it to work!
I would agree with using TPU for the legs, and you probably don’t need supports if its printed upside down.
I think the TPU is a must because from what I remember the toys had a rubbery feel to them.
I love this idea as I used to have a ton of hex bugs. One suggestion would be to alter the design of the bug more to be less like a original bug and more unique. Altering the size is definitely a good start but I think you could go further.
I would suggest printing the top part out TPU or another flexible filament.
One suggestion to make this even crazier would be to add aspects of a real life bug. You might add antenna, wings, or some other realistic design that would pay homage to actual bugs.
