Layers Design- Sam Naik

An art piece from Philip Roberts reminded me of rangoli. Rangoli is art that is created using colored sand and sometimes other materials too during festivals. There are also ready-to-use rangoli that are piece made from colorful acrylics. I added an image of what acrylic rangoli looks like. My plan is the make some acrylic rangoli designs by layering different shapes and colors. I may add some plywood to it too to switch it up.

What is your plan for the final shape? Will it be the shape in your concept drawing or a radial pattern shape like the examples?

    1. Sam Naik says:

The plan is for all the pieces to be cut and then they’re placed together in the radial pattern when decorating. The engraves are to help me stick the smaller cuts on the bigger pieces.

what kind of acrylic are you planning on using? will you use transparent acrylic to create light effects, or stick to bold colours with frosted acrylic?

    1. Sam Naik says:

I used transparent acrylic because I though that it would be better.

Will the final design have more shapes than the example. Maybe in a circular array?

    1. Sam Naik says:

For now, the idea was to have only this set. I may design a different set later.

I think I’m going to use 2 or 3 layers.

What were your ideas about color? Is the neon line art going to be implemented in your final color palette(design)?

    1. Sam Naik says:

I’m going to use pink, blue and green.

What’s your plan for holding together the final piece? Will this be on a single board? or will each cut out piece be attached?
