On the first day of class, as Prof. Rosenstock was describing the type of work we would be doing in this class and showing us examples, I was already formulating this idea.
Trying not to get too personal, but over winter break, I got into a very heated argument with someone close to me. It spanned several days, and eventually it came to a point in which I knew that there was nothing that I could do or say that would help. So I had to just grit my teeth and tell them that I had nothing left to say. I could still feel my head swirling and shouting at me with everything I wanted to say, but I also knew that it wouldn’t solve anything, and that the only thing I could reasonably do was terminate the argument so that I could move on.

So that brings me to this piece. I know the drawing isn’t anything special, but the concept is there. I’d cut it out of layers of clear acrylic (similar to the reference image), and fill an inside cavity with thoughts. You’re not going to be able to read them, but that’s on purpose. The mouth will be covered in duct tape. The one thing I’m still deciding is if the slices will be horizontal or vertical.
While this idea spawned from a specific event, I do also like how it honestly can apply to a lot of people with similar experiences of staying quiet when they want to do anything but.

How are you planning on creative the illusion of tape over the mouth of the person? (Will the tape be made of a different acrylic color or will it be integrated into the clear acrylic)
what is your plan for making the brain look as artistic in the acrylic as it does in the drawing?
What is your plan for making the brain multicolored, like in the sketch, if you are doing a 3D piece?
what were you thoughts about the level of detail your piece will have?
What do you plan to use to represent thoughts in this piece?
What kind of response were you hoping to elicit in your viewers?
What software do u plan to use to cut this design?
