First Cuts! – Sydney

I was able to get my Drawing #1 and Drawing #3 cut, but something was wrong with my Drawing #2 where it wasn’t recognizing that the parts I wanted to raster engrave. That was as an .svg file, and I tried editing it a few times but nothing worked. I also tried importing it into Retina Engrave as a .pdf but every time I did that, the program just froze entirely. It was getting late and I needed to go home, so I’ll have to revisit Drawing #2 to get it cut another time.

I noticed that the closeness of the lines creates shading and a 3d-like shape.

I noticed that the pattern in your cut kinda looks like a peacock spreading its feathers.

I appreciate how intricate of a shape you can create by looping an ellipse.

I appreciate the beauty of the drawing #3. I love the pattern of the lines when they come really close together. I noticed a lot of similarities between our designs especially in the center where the texture is very pointy.

I’m struck by the way the ellipses become lines and wrap around each other to create a curve. It’s really eye catching and it draws you in.

I appreciate how the rectangle cut out of your design fits the shape so well!
