Finally here! These are my final projects for this class. I had a great time making all of these and I’m honestly pretty happy with all of them. In reverse chronological order, here they are.
Altered Toys
Though my long Furby didn’t end up very long by the last class, I am still very entertained by it. The final proportions of it are honestly pretty close to those Furbies they gave out in Happy Meals at McDonald’s.

pluuuusss, I was able to send another print into the queue to try again. Who knows, maybe this lil dude will get a sibling soon….
Lantern
Soooo turns out the errors that Fusion Slicer were giving me were there for a reason…it was physically impossible to put some of the pieces into place for the chicken. This was because half of the piece needed to be outside and the other half needed to be inside to achieve the full effect, which wasn’t possible with solid wood. HOWEVER, I am still very content with how this turned out! The shape is still recognizable as “bird”, and the patterning on the slices makes it look like wings. And with the lights in it, it looks really cool. It’s also incredibly satisfying to hold it like a small bird because…well it’s just fun.
Layers Project
This honestly might be one of the most personal projects I’ve made. It was an idea that instantly popped into my head when we were given the prompt, and I think that I executed it really well. The thoughts sealed away are very much personal and I think that the piece itself ended up beautiful. It’s another one that is quite satisfying to hold because it is so dense.
First Cuts
I wanted to include another pic of my first cuts because I was also really happy with those. Not only were they really fun to design, but this first little step got me back to a laser cutter. My high school had one, but when I came to WPI I just didn’t end up needing to use it so I forgot about them. I really enjoyed making physical art again, and this class bought me back to that creative headspace. Making these little cuts on the laser cutter reminded me of that, and I am honestly super grateful.

I love your layers project! That was such an ambitious project, and even though it didn’t work out as intended it still looks amazing!
I love the intricacy of your lantern! It’s truly mesmerizing how it all came together.
