Samuel Kierstead Introduction and Portfolio

on

My name is Samuel Kierstead. I am from Plymouth, MA. I am pursuing mechanical engineering and love working with my hands. All my work is tangible and usually requires a steady hand and a bit of patience. I have taken a AR1100 but am looking to expand my computer art skills and explore other mediums.

One relatively new hobby that I have been exploring is carving. I either carve with wood or Sign Foam which is a very dense type of foam used in commercial signage, and pumpkins! Another fascination of mine is 3D printing, most of my designs serve a mechanical purpose and are a test of my 3D design and modeling skills.

A personal sign that I carved for my desk. This included working 3D printed gears that move on bearings.
A sign that I carved with gold leaf lettering.
A sign that I carved for a friend out of oak, painted black letters with a polyurethane finish.
The first sign that I ever carved, and presented as a gift to my Boy Scout troop when I earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
A pumpkin that I carved with the Eagle Scout logo.
A pumpkin that I carved for the WPI Formula SAE team.
A ceramic puffer fish piggy bank that I gave as a gift to my niece.
Donut keychains that I designed and 3D printed with wood filament for my nieces.
