Final Projects – Lauren Faulkner

on

My layers project was made from frosted acrylic and wood. It is a “alien” tree, and the leaves glow when a light is shined on it.

My lantern project was cut in colored paper and wood. It’s based on the song “Ptolemaea” by Ethel Cain, which has a very horror vibe. I’m very happy with how it turned out, and love how it looks in the dark.

For my altered toys project, I made a miniature of the house in my favorite game, Stardew Valley. I then decorated it with fabric, paint, and paper. If I had more time, I would make changes and reprint it and add more details to the decorations.

Your lantern project is so detailed and I am really impressed that you were able to get all of the detail on the laser cutter.

The fine detail that you incorporated into your lantern looks really great! You are correct that the face really gives the effect of being a face with only a few layers

I really love the look of your alien tree! I appreciate the round and droppy theme throughout which really adds character. The amount of layers you incorporated adds a lot of depth to the piece and makes it much more sculptural.

I appreciate the amount of effort you put into the tree for your layers project. It definitely feels like an alien tree and gives an other worldly feeling.

I really love the stark difference in the sides of the lantern. The strong red color also really adds to the piece giving it an almost ominous feeling. Nice work!
