This is my final layers project! I used 1/8″ acrylic sheets and the laser cutter to create this project. Initially I had a lot of difficulties with finalizing the design and figuring out how I wanted to layer my pieces. I hand drew this design in inkscape, first sending the photos through a cutout filter in GIMP to get the black and white gradient layers, then tracing these, then overlaying the designs, removing different pieces in the overlap, and finally deciding which areas I wanted to set as different layered pieces.
