Altered Toys Project WIP (Jonathan Amirault)

For this project, I went for a blend between 2 of my favorite interests as a child. Both Legos and the intricacies of puzzles was always so interesting to me as a kid. For this project I created a traditional 2X4 studded Lego with altered top caps as connecting pieces. When I first printed these, I realized that that the bottoms of the Legos were the same size as the top, and so they would only go together when forced together by hitting them with a hammer. It wasn’t exactly the most practical solution, so I decided to multiply the openings on the bottom by 1.05 to create a wide enough gap for the top pieces to fit into their corresponding hole. This worked, but it was still a little bit tight. I decided to sand around the top and bottom edges of the Legos to create a smooth feeling when pressed together. They really did feel and sound like Legos after doing this. I was wondering what other changes I may be able to make to make these more similar/(or different!) from actual legos.
