Here are some images of my lantern project. I still plan to add a frame around the edge, as light is currently shining all around to the sides of the piece because of the uncovered acrylic.
My question is weather I should re-cut the top layer of wood. The engravings I made were not deep enough to easily see, and the stain got splotchy in the bottom left. If I re-cut the top part I would vector cur instead of engrave the letters, as I already had the engrave power on a high setting. However, I am worried a vector cut would make the letters too pronounced.
This final product is stunning! The contrast between the wood and acrylic is very clean looking.
Wow this is absolutely gorgeous! I really love your choice in lighting with how the names and outline of the frame lights up. Overall, it looks so clean and well put together, the stain on the wood helps take the piece to the next level.
