Introduction: Daniel Pacheco-Cruz

Hello everybody! Sorry for the late post. I’ve been sick for the past week, so I have yet to create a post but, here it is! My name is Daniel Pacheco-Cruz. You can call me Daniel or Danny. I don’t mind either name. My pronouns are he/ his. I am from NJ and am Guatemalan. I am very passionate about art and love making games! My love for video games started when I was younger playing with consoles such as the game cube and the Gameboy. My first introduction to making video games started at my community college in NJ (MCCC). Ever since then I just wanted to continue on my journey as a game design.

I use art as a way to show my ideas. My main focus with art is to create characters with backgrounds and have origin stories. I want to become a 2d game artist but, more specifically, a concept artist. I love to paint when I can but, my main focus is 2d digital art. I am interested in improving my 3d modeling skill in this class. Over the years I have focused my attention on learning human anatomy and want to use my current knowledge to create a 3d model. I am also interested in re-learning maya because it has been over a year since I used it, so my skills are very rusty. One improvement I want to achieve in this class is to work on my level building. I want to create a cohesive level that tells a story. I am currently a senior so I have had my fair share of making games but, I wouldn’t call myself an expert yet. I like writing and drawing in my free time. I also like reading graphic novels. Currently my MQP is creating a graphic novel. lol. I love 2d platformers and am a big fan of Pokémon. Pixel art is also something that I find inspiration in because it is a whole genre when it comes to art and games. I am a very open book so if you have any questions regarding the anatomy of a character, I’m someone you can talk to. I am also free almost every day so I’m down to chat or play games. Thanks!

Here is my Mini-Portfolio!

The final project from my community college was to create a game. This game is called chicken and rocks. It was from a group of 4. 2 programmer and 2 artists. The background, platforms and lava were from my partner Jenni. I create the chicken, chicken animations, rocks falling and the crumbling animations. I also created the colliders in this game.

Created in my IMGD 4700 course. The first half of the level is mine and the second half is from my partner, Jenna Tripoli.

A 3d model of portal. This a project I create in my community college.
I actually wasn’t the artist in this project. I was the programmer, writer and collected all of the background sound and SFX. This is a visual novel made in Ren’Py. This was a fun project because I had to write various paths and outcomes for both characters. Both characters are playable and each of them have different stories. Allows for replay ability.

A rap cover I created for my friend and rap artist YLN WA. It’s called High. It’s over 100,000 streams total on all platforms! (YouTube, Apple music, and Spotify). Love creating artwork for up-and-coming artists. Don’t really charge them because it gives me experience and most underground and up and coming artists usually just create their designs for the covers. So, I like helping in creating a vision for what the song is supposed to represent.

This is a level I designed B term in Art Game development 1. I created all the 3d assets and character. The textures I brought into photoshop and edited them to make them look different and unique. The music was found using the free sounds sight.
