Layers concept and inspiration

I was inspired by the topographical map of Cape Cod and decided to make a similar version of a map of my home town of Woodstock Connecticut.

For Placement of Holes and Openings, I intend to use holes to mark specific significant locations on the map. For Varied Repetition of Form, the contour lines of the topology will outline the shapes of the landscape in repeating curves. For Color Scheme and Value, the darker areas will represent lower elevation because it will take more raster engraving to achieve the correct heights. And for Depth, the different heights of the layers of raster engraving will represent different elevations in Woodstock.

Topology of Woodstock.

How are you planning on getting the different depth levels of raster engraves? Are you going to go over certain areas multiple times or are you going to have several different rasters? (Or something else)

I plan to overlay several different rasters in order to vary the color as well as the depth.

How many layers do you plan to cut?
