First Cuts – Andrew Roush

For my first cut on the laser I chose to cut my SVG from drawing 1, which is a very simplified version of of my current combat robot. I’m considering adding a raster and making it into a keychain. This took 3 cuts to get the cut to come out as I had expected. The first cut didn’t go all the way through, as well as the engravings almost did – not ideal. The second cut all the way through but was quite burned, so changing some settings the third came out pretty close to what I was going for. Many of the burn marks can be wiped off with a paper towel so it doesn’t smudge everything. The only thing I would change is lowering the power on the engrave even further, maybe to 5% so its more of a golden brown.

I appreciate how the blade arm is outlined partly with an engrave and partly as a cut but still feels like one component.

I’m struck by your ability to combine wood and lasers to reference the robots you have made.
