Final Projects – Ana Roure

Final Layers Project

For my layers design I thought of making a windows screen with multiple tabs. What I did was I laser cut this all in plywood. Every tab was cut and placed in a different layer/height. Everything was inspired by old Windows99 tabs and games. I am really happy how this came out!

Final Lantern Project

For this project I was inspired by the Pokemon movie “Mewtwo strikes back” when the Pokemon Mewtwo was being created in his tank with the armor attached with wires all around it. I used LEDs to light both the bottom and top of the tank. I also 3D printed the Mewtwo and made it “float” with the red wires that are glued to the top. I am really happy how this turned out. I posted a video with a better look on the lights.

Final Altered Toys
For my final Altered Toys project I decided to do a realistic looking piranha plant from the video game Mario. My goal was to make the piranha plant look like a venus flytrap and move like one. I created a 3D model of the body, head, teeth, pipe, blocks and mushrooms from the game into the somewhat realistic style I had in mind. After 3D printing it attached a motor to the bottom of the piece and glued some string to the motor and attached one side of the string to the top part of the head of the Piranha plant. I then coded the servo motor to move back and forth and with that movement it made the top part of my little robot move!

I really love how you took the time to add the motor to the piranha plant. It really adds to the piece and overall you did such a great job with the themeing, combining both realistic shapes and the iconic mario game aesthetics.

It was fun working with you this term! As someone who spent a lot of time working on these projects together, I had a blast! All of your piece’s came out amazing. The appreciate the time you spent to create the piranha plant. To make it chomp was a great way to create a portfolio worthy piece as a robotics major.
