I wanted to emulate cracks for the lantern project. The red is going to be a light engraving and the purple would be a deeper engraving. The light is going to come out of the cracks like the engraved example that was shown in class. I will be putting in a lightbulb to get a warm tone to light bursting through the box.
What are you planning to use for a light socket for the light bulb. I am doing a similar thing and am still deciding between a few options to hold and power my bulb.
I plan on using one of the sockets that the Professor put on Canvas. I will also try to get one of the lightbulbs with different settings just to add more to the concept.
Do you plan to have the engravings shown on the outside, or will they be facing inwards?
At the moment, the engravings will be shown on the outside to give more texture to the lantern.
How do you plan to mount the light?
I will try to mount it by either using an adhesive or cutting in the bottom to the socket and the wiring if there is any.
What material do you plan to use for the box and do you plan to correct for kerfs or just glue/secure the joints some other way?
What do you plan on using to assemble the lantern? I know that with laser cutters, It may be hard to attach the box as is since they are not dovetail joints.
