I didn’t know how it would turn out before I put it together, but I think it came out well. If I were to improve it, I would add more rings, increase the rotation of each ring, and create a stand. What do you think?
i think a stand would be very cool! i also think it could be very interesting to try painting different rings different colours so they don’t blend together so much in the middle. otherwise, i think this turned out very cool, and i love the way you’ve offset the rings!
I noticed the construction, it’s very interesting to see such a rounded object made of flat pieces. I think painting or staining the wood could be cool.
For your stand, I think it would be cool to hang it from a ceiling!
I really like the overall design and execution, it’s a great way of bringing 2d parts to life in 3d!
When seeing your work in progress I wasn’t too sure how all of the pieces were going to fit together, seeing this final product is very satisfying. This is a very large design when compared to the small amount of material.
is there a way you could bond the rings together that would still allow them to spin about their respective axis? I would agree with the need for a stand.
I really like this design; I like how the rings give off the vibe of an old globe or like one of those spinning stress rings almost.
I think a stand would be cool, particularly one made of a acrylic. I think you should do acrylic for a stand if you make one because without a stand the piece looks like it is floating and I feel that if you had a wooden stand it would change the vibe of the piece.
How would you go about adding motion into the rings like you mentioned in your post?

I like how it looks without a stand because it looks like it is floating. How are the rings connected?
I was hoping they would just press fit, but it was too loose, so I used a glue gun

I wish I could, but due to thinness of the wood I can’t think of a good way to allow the rings to rotate.
What would your plan be if you built a stand? I think it might be cool to model something like a globe stand!
I didn’t have any plans, but that sounds like a good idea!
