Layers Project | Ani Ladd

on

For my layers project, I made a layered map of Monterey Bay! In total, I used 8 cut square pieces of 1/8″ plywood from the maker space. Each water layer was cut in the laser cutter, painted with acrylic paint, and finished with Mod Podge. I painted the bottom layer with the darkest blue and added progressively more white to create the illusion of depth.

I engraved the top layer with some of my favorite places and memories! Everything is glued together with gorilla super glue which worked pretty well (besides me unfortunately getting it on my hands haha). My favorite part of this project was seeing the final piece come together! I am hoping to give it to my mom for her birthday.
