Lantern Design | Ani Ladd

For this project, I wanted to create a box case for a diffuser. I bought a diffuser online and hopefully, it will serve as my LED source. With my design, there will be a hole at the top of my box to allow the diffuser to work.

So far I have created designs for the four side panels which should all be cut out. The lid has an engraved design with a hole.

Above is the diffuser I ordered and my first designs!

What made you decide to make one of the panels organic with trees and butterflies ? It adds an interesting contrast to the almost natural free flowing shapes of the rest of the pieces.

I wanted to have each panel be a type of essential oil. It didn’t really come out that way haha, and the bottom one is lavender but I wanted to add cool leaves at the bottom. I added butterflies and stars to try and minimize the empty space.

What material will you use? Will the presence of moisture impact your material choice?

How did you generate these interesting designs? I love the randomness of each panel, yet they are all still following an eye catching pattern.

What is your plan for getting power into the box for the diffuser.

a diffuser expels wet air, right? what material are you planning on using for this? plywood or paper would likely get wet and/or modly from the diffuser, but acrylic would allow you to see the diffuser unless it was frosted. how bright is a diffuser light? i’m interested to see what this will look like.

I noticed that the top only has 1 hole compared to the many holes on the sides. Is that to focus the output of the diffuser?

I love how intricate the detail is in the design! I would imagine it will take a long time to cut. What’s your plan for the different color lines you have? If your planning on engraving the green thick lines, you might make sure they are boxes and not just thick lines, so they raster instead of vector engrave.
