I chose to base my layers design off of this artist because I like the way she simplifies nature but uses layers and colors to add depth and detail. I like this piece because of the incorporation of the semi-translucent paper which mimics streaks of light. She uses repeated form to create an endless sea of clouds, and varied color and value to add depth and possibly suggest the placement of the sun. I wanted to illustrate a picture of Vernal Falls that I took when I visited Yosemite with my best friend this summer. The technique used by Hazel Glass to depict light is perfect for making the rainbow in the picture.
What material will you use?
cardstock
what is the technique that was used to make light? how do you plan to replicate it with so many colours?
I will cut different colored pieces of tissue paper.
What is your plan for replicating the opacity of your rainbow in your art piece?
My plan is to use tissue paper.
What are your thoughts about adding depth to your design? As cardstock is thinner in comparison to other materials such as wood or acrylic
How will the material for your project be collected? Though buying brand new paper/cardstock, collecting old boxes/paper, or something else?
