For my second drawing, I recreated a cool-looking wave I had taken a picture of on my scope, I used the bitmap conversion tool for this so it was a trail of sorts. It turned out alright ish, the depth of the original image is hard for me to translate into this medium due to a lack of knowledge and skill but I think the overall shape was captured pretty accurately. For my third drawing in an attempt to make something really wacky to push the precision of the raster engrave I modified R. Luke DuBois‘ spirograph example code and added an SVG export feature to get some pretty wacky shapes and patterns. Unfortunately, the SVG crashes my Inkscape anytime I try to edit it due to its size and complexity (each line is made up of overlapping circles) and I can’t even upload the original full-res SVG to WordPress so were stuck with this cruddy low-quality jpg conversion. given this, I have little hope that I’ll be able to properly engrave this but it was still a fun process.
