Introduction & Portfolio – Jonathan Amirault

Hello! I am Jonathan Amirault and I am a Freshman Mechanical Engineering Major here at WPI. Art hasn’t been a super big part of my life recently, but I am definitely working on changing that. I have actually never taken a traditional art style class, so this class will definitely be a new learning experience for me. I have a strong passion for photography and photo editing, as well as 3D designing (typically for more practical purposes as opposed to more artistic ones).

When I have made traditional art in the past, I loved to work with very vibrant colors that highlight stark contrasts. Both in my photography work and limited traditional art work I have tended to focus on accenting silhouettes. I also love nature and the outdoors, so a lot of my photography tends to be taken with a DSLR from the different mountains I have hiked/unique places I have visited. As for other art that I do, I really enjoy simple sketching of anything and everything, hence the colored pencil drawing of the Little Prince. The majority of my artistic expression came during my time doing A Capella in high school as both a singer, arranger, and beatboxer. I have always had a passion for the arts despite my lack of experience, and so I am very excited to learn more and to see everyone’s art in this class!
