Layers Project: Map of Monterey Bay
My first project was a layered map of Monterey Bay! I made the design in Inkscape and added small details for my favorite places. Each water layer was painted with different shades of blue. I had a lot of fun with this one!
Lantern Project: Diffuser Light Box
This was my favorite project! I started by designing five panels with different designs- each representing a different essential oil. I used Makercase to create a five-sided case that would fit together. The top had a hole for the diffuser to work. To cut, I used 1/8″ black acrylic which worked very well. Then I applied parchment paper inside to diffuse the light. The top of the diffuser is also lined up with the hole on the top so no moisture leaks out.
Altered Toys Project: Ladybug Pin
I decided to 3D print a small ladybug pin like the ones I always wanted as a kid. I made my design in tinkercad and printed it at the printers in the prototyping lab! Once it was finished, I coated it with a thin layer of Mod Podge. Then I did two layers of acrylic paint and a final layer of Mod Podge. In the end, I added a small clip so that it could go on a shirt!

I really like the way that the layered water area turned out on your first project. It looks so cool!
I love the use of symbols on your map. I’m also from CA and this reminded me of when I drove to Santa Cruz and the Bay Area and my mom would tell me what crops are grown in which cities such as Gilroy the garlic town lol.
I love the diffuser light box. Its organic shapes with the color scheme really work wonders!
I love how the different shades of blue create even more depth in the water.
I really love how your layers project turned out! The topography and the way the layers are arranged gives it really good depth and I like the use of color as a gradient. Monterey bay is also a nostalgic place for me as I’m also from California.
Beautiful ladybug! I love the paint job and how small it is. I also like how you created a pin which adds to the toy element of this project.
