Lantern Project | Ani Ladd

on

I had a lot of fun with this project! I stuck to my original idea of making a case for my diffuser. Since it already had a color-changing function, I used it as my light component for the lantern. I edited the design from my last WIP to have five panels, each with its own design. There is also a top pentagon panel with a small hole for the diffusor to work.

For the design component, I used MakerCase to generate a box that would fit together perfectly. I used Inkscape to make the designs and set them all to be laser cutouts. 1/8″ Black Acrylic was my material of choice. I was originally going to use plywood, however because of the diffusor I wanted to use something that wouldn’t absorb moisture.

The lantern project is in motion! You can see the essential oil diffuser releasing at the top.

Above are the five panels illuminated. I added a layer of parchment paper to diffuse the light.
