For my lantern design I am creating a layered landscape of Atlantis, with a large shadow of a squid looming in the background. Much of my inspiration came from Hari and Deepti’s work. A piece I drew a lot from was their Nautilus sea scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have created the three main layers of my piece, although I am wanting to add quite a few more layers for the details. I’m having some trouble deciding how to create these details – with the light shining through from the back it makes my head work extra hard trying to picture how the piece will end up looking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven’t put enough thought into the container yet, but I think I am going to use 1\/4″ thick wood. I don’t have my total layers yet so I don’t know the depth dimension (I’m going to have about a 1\/4″ space in between each layer), but the width and height will be 8×12″.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
