I was able to test cut the design on cardstock and saw some places that could use adjustment location wise because it cuts the piece out or interferes with the edge. I’m thinking of potentially changing one side so that instead of being a new image it’s actually a repeat of another side opposite it or maybe even replacing it with an entirely new image. I’m also considering adding more detail to one of the sides and then changing what is cut out and what would be vector cut on the cube. The dimensions of the piece are 5″x5″x5″ cube. I also plan on painting the cube as the outside finish and ordered LED strip lights for the lighting. The lantern will also be made out of wood however I am curious how this might look as an acrylic lantern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"663\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-1024x663.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1606\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-1024x663.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-800x518.png 800w, https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-768x497.png 768w, https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-1536x994.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-2048x1325.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/art-in-the-makerspace-21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/lantern-design-project-464x300.png 464w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Artist Question: Would having a repeated image throw off the piece or seem okay?
