LAYERS PROJECT:
Design: Originally I wanted to make a design where I could make different constellations and then utilize the layers to add depth. This eventually evolved to include a tiny astronaut’s mask. After test printing the layers, I decided to add planets in the reflection of the space suit. Once the printing was complete, I printed a stand and chose to use acrylic paint pens to paint the inside of the helmet and planets like the galaxy. I liked the contrast of the paint on the clear acrylic.
Material: The layers were printed on clear 1/4” acrylic, and then I used paint pens to color in the space suit!

LANTERN PROJECT:
Design: I wanted to create a shadow box of Dr. Strange. There were a few iterations to my design because the original pose did not capture the layers and light how I wanted it to. For the final design, I realized the simplicity made a difference, so I decided to just focus on cutting the highlighted shapes out.
Material: The layers were printed on white card stock and the shadow box was cut from 1/4” birch wood
ALTERED TOYS PROJECT:
Design: I wanted to 3d print one of those puzzles. I used this star puzzle that I used to play with as a kid for inspiration. It took a lot of time to get the pieces to fit together, but it worked out well in the end!

Hello!
This is all super cool. I am so inspired by how your layers project came out. I feel like the piece says so much and has so much emotion. I also am struck by how the light travels through your lantern, I love the use of different layers to change the opacity of different parts. Your altered toys design project is also amazing. I love how it is actually a functional toy.
Hi! I appreciate the growth that each piece had to get to this final version. I am still struck by how much the painted astronaut helmet adds to that piece, its plays so well with the concept that the space has to be outside the astronaut and turns everything inside out. Your lantern is just incredible, especially with the changing LED colors. I really appreciate the fine level of detail you were able to achieve in his clothing and figure at such a small scale. And finally, I am so happy that you figured out how to fix your altered toys and that it finally works! I love that it is a puzzle because I feel like they are one of the few toys that remain timeless and ageless. Well done!
Hi Vanshika! I love how everything came out! I especially think that your layers project and the lantern project really came together. I notice how flexible you were with your design process and I think that allowed the pieces to reach their true potential.
The way the layers of acrylic make the stars look 3D is really cool. Also, painting the dark space and planets in the visor of the astronaut is super artsy.
Hi! Your layers little astronaut man is adorable and I like all of the details you added and the contrast between the engraving and the painting.
I appreciate how you troubleshoot your toy design and am very happy it ended up working out!
The lighting and the end result of your lantern project come together really well and you can give off a lot of different emotions with the different colors.
The puzzle is very clever and the way that the colors change on the lantern project brings out the design. I also really like the idea of lighting up your layers project. It adds another dimension to the piece that I think is really cool.
Hi Vanshika! I’m so happy to see all of your finished projects! I love the geometric pattern of the star puzzle and I think how the lights with your layers project and lantern project really bring out another layer of depth to the pieces! Speaking of depth, I love the line of action and visuals for the lantern project, the project captures the motion perfectly and bring you in!
woah, your altered toy is so cool, i love how it fits together, was it hard to design that? i feel like it would take a lot of specificity
Hi Vanshika! I’m glad you were able to get your altered toy together!! All your pieces are so cool, especially your layers project – I feel that the colour in the planets adds so much to the piece.
I have never seen anything like your 3D project! It’s amazing! I really appreciate how you took all of the projects a step further and made them something amazing
I really love your puzzle project, it’s so cool that it’s functional and still art!! I think your dr strange project is really impressive, I can’t imagine how you figured out what goes where in each paper layer!
Hey Vanshika! I love how your final projects came out. I would definitely play with the toy you designed! Great job!!!
My favorite of your projects is the lantern project, I think the RGB function really works well with the project, and the layers of the paper are really effective. Also it looks so badass and as a fellow MCU enjoyer, i think it’s super dope!
