I have had a great time taking this course and seeing the amazing creations all of you produced. Hope everyone continues to create! Enjoy this catch-all of my work I made 🙂
LAYERS PROJECT:

My idea for this Alice in wonderland layered piece was inspired by the comic art style of Mitch McGee. I was brainstorming comics/cartoons and thinking of layers brought me to the idea of falling then boom! Alice going down the rabbit hole. I’m hoping the different layers convey different parts of the “hole” Alice is falling into. I thought of random repeating designs and used complementary colors to contrast the layers.
LANTERN PROJECT:

When thinking of lanterns, I thought of the traditional japanese/korean lanterns that are in the shape of houses or pagodas. My inspiration of my design on the panels actually came from a new shirt I purchased that has this awesome dragon graphic on it. I traced this design and added a kanji character on the hand of the dragon representing different attributes I value, strength, happiness, love, and courage. I chose a flame LED light to insert because it was fitting for the dragon aesthetic.
ALTERED TOYS PROJECT:
Jogging my memory back to childhood, Littlest Pet Shops were my absolute FAVORITE toy. I remember I always wished I could make my own and use my imagination to create my own Pet Shop design. For this project, I wanted to recreate the toy and give my inner child a chance to artistically customize it, but put on a grown up spin to it. I love horror films and wanted to turn this into a spooky horror cat. I decided to add painted scary attributes such as blacked out eyes, blood, and sharp details
MISC. PROJECTS:
These pieces I made mainly as gifts for my parents and one for myself to keep on my desk. The Bruins coaster was a gift to my dad who loves the bruins. He is an avid coffee drinker and was in need of a new coaster. Acrylic material looked awesome and allowed the logo to really pop. Next, I made my mother this engraved print of myself, her, and my father for mothers day. I wanted to give her something I created since she has always loved my art, but also something that will be dear to her. I picked her favorite photo of our family and traced it in a minimalistic style. Lastly, I chose one of my favorite houseplants, the monstera, and ran it as my first raster engrave. It sits beautifully on my desk now!

Hi! I am very struck by the emotion I can sense in Alice as captured by your paint job as well as how the layers create the scene of her down the hole very well.
The details on your lantern project area very impressive and came out quite well, and I can imagine it looks very nice when lit up.
I really appreciate the little gifts you made as I used this class to do that for some friends and family as well.
Hi! I like the combination of paint and acrylic used in your layers project to distinguish the layers more. I also appreciate that you included the other pieces you worked on as gifts for people because it’s interesting to see different projects besides what’s assigned.
Hi Marcella! I love how the layers project turned out! I think using the paint behind the acrylic pieces really adds to the piece! I also appreciate the detailed dragon for your lantern project!
Hello,
I notice all the color you used to create a scene for the layers project. I think all the color adds a big aspect to this project and is super cool. I also am amazed by the dragon on the side of your lantern project. The detail is incredible and it seems like the laser almost cut at a variable depth which is super cool.
Hi Marcella! All of your pieces came out incredible! I especially love the lantern you designed. i think you were able to make such a striking dragon design and love that you included kanji with meaning. Also your side projects were awesome, I love that you used extra time to use your new skills to make something for others.
The dragon on your lantern looks very intricate with thin areas and large spots to engrave. Good job selecting the right power for the raster. I had a difficult time with that so I appreciate how it turned out.
The dragon on your lantern came out very intricately, I appreciate all of the details that went into it. Your choice of colors for the layers project is also very effective. It creates contrast as you intended and the darker shades give it a creepier look.
Hi Marcella! I really love the expression you captured in your layers project! The colors play along well with the fantastical theme of Alice in Wonderland and the acrylic layers accent and exaggerate the feeling of being trapped and lost.
Hi Marcella! I never saw the finished version of your Alice in Wonderland piece until now and it looks so cool!! I really like how the swirls seem to sit a few millimeters off of the colour underneath. All your designs turned out amazing!
Wow! All of these are so cool! I also loved Littlest Pet Shops as a little girl so this brings back memories! My favorite of your pieces is the lantern because it’s so detailed!
