Iris Morin: First Cuts

on

Hi y’all!

Here is my Cactus for Drawing 1: I added the flower to have a whole through the design and couldn’t part with the positive part of flower so I added it to the arm.

And here is my rastered Iris Flower for Drawing 2:

Lastly, what I call Nautilus Shell for Drawing 3 made with the demo p5 code:

Thanks for taking a look at my First Cuts! Have a great day

Hello! I am amused that you used the cut out of the flower as part of the cactus arm.

    Hi Iris,
For your Iris flower, I noticed how you used a vector engrave for the outline and used a raster engrave for the inside. I think it really helps establish the form of the flower and gives it added emphasis.

The addition of the cut out flower is smart and can be appreciated you didn’t waste a nice part. Well done!

Hi Iris! I noticed how you used a vector engrave on the outside of our flower alongside using a raster engrave. It helps make the piece pop by differentiating the different levels of the engrave.

I noticed that for design 3 you kept the square outline but added rounded edges to the shape. I also noticed that for design 2 the application of the raster engrave to the flower reminds me of a pressed flower.

Hi Iris! wow! your flower is really beautiful! you show a lot of depth and range in your work by being able to complete both sucessful small and cute designs like your cactus, and elegant and realistic designs like your flower. You use negative space very well.

Hey Iris! I noticed how your third cut resembles an endless staircase. You can almost get lost for a second while staring into the middle. The drawing of the cactus and the flower are beautiful as well.
