4/23 Progress
I’m still working on finalizing the vector drawings but below is what I have so far. I changes it to 3 sides instead of 4 so I have any hope of finishing it sometime soon. At this point the main thing I need to do is make the central drawing for the Healer card. I have a few other adjustments to make as well, like changing the font used in the Illusionist card because when I redownloaded inkscape the font I had chosen didn’t exist anymore. I’ll also need to alter the bottom piece to make space for adding lighting.

The current plan is to have an outermost layer of cut wood (the colorful areas in each image above are removed), and an sheet of acrylic behind each side with corresponding colors (the white shapes are removed). Each side will be 7.75″x12.75″ plus the fingers that overhang. I’m thinking of using fairy lights for the lighting inside, though I’m not sure yet if I want to use ones that flicker or not. Another option I’m thinking of now is painting the wood pieces black, or even diluting some black acrylic paint to make a wash that won’t hide all of the woodgrain.

5/5 Progress
I’ve completed the Healer Card, shown below. Next I’ll be transferring the wood layers to the sides from the Makercase box, adding a hole to the bottom piece for lights, and laying out the Acrylic sheet. Then I’ll be able to cut everything!

Hi Erica,
I really like the shades of color you chose for your drawings and I appreciate that you plan to incorporate two layers into your project.
Hi! I appreciate the use of acrylic with different colors for each side and then also cutting portions out of the acrylic to have even more different lighting. I have an opinion on the box paint. I think you could try diluting the paint first to see how it would look with some of the grain visible and then if that’s not what you want go for the undiluted version.
Hi! I appreciate the uniqueness and the cohesiveness of your design’s different sides. My question is how you plan to go about fixing the light source inside the box and if you plan to have a way to be able to access these incase the batteries die
Hi Erica! I really like contrast created by your design! How do you plan to keep all the details visible through layers of cardstock?
Hi Erica! I appreciate the detail that you are able to put into each card. I also think that a triangular lantern will be very unique! Are you planning to adhere the wood and acrylic to add stability to each side?
Hi! I appreciate the detail that is going into each side of the box, and that each side is so different yet all related! Are you planning on adding any design on the triangle on top?
I love the panels you’re designing, completely unrelated to this project but have you thought about making a tarot card deck design? These look really similar, You could also make designed cases for them with the lasercutter. Not sure if you’re into that at all, but that’s what I thought they were when I first saw them.
Wow, this is so incredible! I really appreciate the style that you are using for this project and how consistent it is between the three sides. I wonder what you plan to use in terms of the colored background? I know you mentioned acrylic, but do you still plan to use this?
