Lantern Design – Erica

on

For my Lantern I’m basing it off of the 3 PC’s and 1 main NPC from my current DND campaign (we’re playing Curse of Strahd). In Barovia the fortune tellers use Tarokka cards, similar to our Tarot cards, so I chose cards that seemed to best fit each character. I’m working to modify the actual cards to vector drawings and altering the subjects to better represent the specific characters. The cards will be cut in wood and backed by a tinted acrylic sheet with colors to represent each of the characters. The box itself will be simple with the focus on the light and shapes.

This is super cool. I think doing something like the plane wooden box that had the light coming through in some spots would be really cool here.

like the one that was just a plane cube when the light was off but then it had thin spots that light could pass through

I really like your designs, they remind me a lot of tarot cards. My question for you is are you planning on incorporating any color into your lightbox, and if so how?

Hi, I really like the fantasy elements of your designs! Are you planning on engraving the image so that the light shines through in different shades, or just cutting so that the acrylic shows through?

Hi Erica! I think your design is super cool! Have you narrowed down what material you’ll use for the box? A see through acrylic could make your tarot designs really pop!

This is such a creative and ambitious design! Since each of the sides will be so detailed and truly where people should be focused, I think maybe having the box, material finishes, and light source on the simpler side would help them from competing with the designs. I can’t wait to see how your recreations of your cards come out!
