Sydney – Final Projects

I will start off with the layers project, since that is the first project we did. I was inspired by a lake in the Adirondacks that my family vacations at every year for the past 50 years, Raquette Lake. I used a map from the DEC website and traced the different depths of the lake,…

Sydney – Much overdue Layers Project

I have finally finished my layers project at 5 PM today!! It took me WAYYYYY longer than anticipated because of all the speed bumps I hit in the road. But in the end it has all been worth it! I love how it turned out and the effect is exactly how I pictured it in…

Sydney – Altered Toys Project

Here is my final Altered Toys Project! I had so much fun learning to use the 3D printer, and I can’t wait to model stuff over the summer and print them next year! In the end, I made the Rubik’s cube planter with drainage holes, and a base to go underneath and catch the drained…

Sydney – Altered Toy Design

Here is my altered toy design! It is a rubik’s cube planter, and I plan to plant one of my little succulents in it! Initially I was just going to do the rubik’s cube planter, but after deciding I wanted some drainage, I designed a little saucer to go underneath and catch the water. I…

Sydney – Final Lanterns Project (Finally!)

I have finally finished my lantern project!! I took quite a long time to do one coat of dark stain and three coats of poly, and let them all dry inbetween! I then had to carefully super glue the paper to the inside of the wood pieces. In the end, I decided not to glue…

Sydney – long overdue 3D doodles

This is my tinkercad doodle, I made it an egg holder! I have been super busy the last 2 weeks, so sorry this is so late! This is my very scary looking powdered-wig man. I very much dislike Zbrush, and am excited that my final design is gonna be made completely in tinkercad.

Lantern Project Update – Sydney

Here is my Work in progress of my lantern project. I have stained the wood dark, and in the next few days, I will begin polying and gluing the paper on. Hoping to have a finished product by Thursday at the latest!

Sydney – Lantern Design

For my lantern design, I got inspired by brainstorming with Mandy. My design is a dissolving honeycomb pattern and I added 2 bees that are supposed to be on opposite sides (I need to fix it), and one bee on top! I intend to stain the wood a dark brown or black color, and then…

Layers Cuts round 1 – Sydney (Update)

I am not going to lie, I was kinda frustrated with my first round of cuts. To begin, there were not long enough laser sessions for me to fully test cut my piece, so I only got a few layers of the wood done, and no acrylic. But, I plan to go back to the…

Layers Design – Sydney

My idea for this project is heavily inspired by my family’s favorite vacation spot. Ever summer for the past 50 years, my mom’s side of the family and some family friends go to vacation at Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks, and it is so beautiful and holds so many great memories that I had to…

Final Cuts – Sydney

It was my first time ever using the laser cutter, and I was really excited to do it! It was a lot of stuff to remember how to set up the cutter the second time I went back, but worth it. I can’t wait to go back for my layers project.

Drawings #2 & #3 – Sydney

It took me quite a while to make this post because I was having the worst time figureing out Inkscape’s controls and how to do the fill correctly on my drawing #2. But finally, here they are!
