AS1001: Intro to Amanda Smith

on

My name is Amanda Smith, I am the oldest of 5 kids so whatever first born stereotype you can think of I probably embody it to a T. I’m from southern New Hampshire, only about an hour away from campus. I apologize for my late entry, I only recently joined the course. Art for me is a hobby, a de-stressor, and an identifier. I still remember things that art teachers taught me all the way back to elementary school, and I get a little memory flash of them every time I go to utilize that specific piece of knowledge. I took a lot of drawing courses in high school, and I also got really into pottery. I haven’t done much with painting. I experimented in poetry, and I was proud of my work, but not interested enough to stick with it. I also did some musical theater for a few years until I realized that wasn’t really my style either. At one point in high school the only reason I would get up and actually go to school was because I knew I had pottery in the mornings and did not want to miss it. I am always grateful for an excuse to practice, as I tend to not do a lot of creating in my free time while also taking classes. I have taken essentials of art and digital imaging computer art at WPI, and got through a week of digital painting but realized it wasn’t for me. I heavily lean towards non-digital art, but my appreciation for digital art has been growing more recently. I think art can be absolutely anything and I love that.
